Sabetha Boys and Nemaha Central Girls Capture First Big East League Track Titles

The Sabetha boys and Nemaha Central girls won the first ever Big East League track and field meet on Thursday afternoon at Silver Lake. 

The Bluejay boys won the meet with 125 points, Silver Lake finished in second place with 91.5 points, and Holton finished in third place with 85 points. 

Notable first place finishes for Sabetha were Will Voos in the long jump, Luke Renyer in the shot put, Tyse Frazee in the 300m hurdles, Charlie Lukert in the 1600m run, and the won the 4x800m relay. 

Silver Lake's Evan Scheid won both the 100m and 200m dash events, Aemon Coffman won the 3200m run, and they added a top finish in the 4x100m relay. 

Cyprian Jackson of St. Marys won the discus and set a new school record that had stood for 50 years. 

The Thunder girls finished atop the standings with 133.5 points, Holton finished in second place with 111 points, and Silver Lake finished in third place with 97 points. 

Nemaha Central won both the 4x400m and 4x800m relays, Zoey Sudbeck won the shot put, Cami Dalinghaus won the discus, Ali Henry won the javelin, and Ellie Hermesch won the triple jump. 

Holton's Eva Cortes won the 1600m and 3200m events while Lauren Shupe won the long jump. 

Silver Lake got first place finishes from Ali Gerber in the 400m run, Journey Manhart won the high jump, and they won the 4x100m relay.
