The Nemaha Central Thunder advanced to the Class 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson next week after winning sub-state on Saturday in Seneca. 

The #2 ranked Thunder beat Riley County in the semifinals 25-8, 25-8 and then would defeat Jefferson West 25-14, 25-17 in the sub-state championship. 

Jefferson West got to the sub-state final by defeating Hiawatha in their semifinal 25-20, 25-14. 

The Thunder make the state tournament for the first time since 2022 and will enter with a record of 39-5 overall.
