KVA Week Six - Rankings
The newest set of high school volleyball rankings were released Wednesday night by the Kansas Volleyball Association and six area teams continue to be ranked.
Just like last week three Big 7 league teams highlight the 3A rankings, as Royal Valley checks in at No. 1 once again with a record of 28-1. The Panthers are 4-0 since suffering their first loss of the season to Silver Lake at the end of September, with the latest wins coming Tuesday over Holton and Sabetha.
Nemaha Central and Holton also remain in the 3A rankings, as the Thunder move up one spot this week to No. 7 with a 24-8 record, while Holton dropped two spots to No. 9 with a record of 23-9. The Thunder are currently on a six match win streak after picking up two more wins Tuesday, taking down Jeff West and Hiawatha.
As to Holton the Lady Cats are coming off a 1-1 night Tuesday, takin down Sabetha but falling to Royal Valley.
A new team has cracked the 2A rankings, as Jefferson County North is into the rankings at No. 8 with a record of 22-6 after winning the Riverside Invitational over the weekend. The Chargers picked up two more wins Tuesday over Horton and Oskaloosa, and are currently riding a 14 match win streak.
The final two ranked area teams come in 1A, as Centralia continues to hold the spot with a perfect 32-0 record. The Panther picked up two more wins Tuesday over Wetmore and Hanover, wrapping up the No. 1 seed in Saturday’s Twin Valley League Tournament in the process.
Valley Falls saw a two spot jump in the rankings this week, as the Dragons moved from No. 9 to No. 7 with a record of 27-5. The Dragons haven’t played since last Thursday, where they took down Horton and Troy in straight sets.
