Sabetha & Royal Valley Competes at Abilene Track Invite

Sabetha and Royal Valley track and field teams continued their season on Friday competing at the Abilene Invite.

A fifth place finish by the Sabetha boys led the team finishes, while Royal Valley boys took ninth out of 12 teams. On the girls side Sabetha finished sixth and Royal Valley took eighth. 

Sabetha Bluejays were led by three first place finishes individually on the day with multiple Top five finishes at the Abilene Invite. Mason Engelken posted a time of 40.62 to win the boys 300 meter hurdles, while he also took second in the 110 meter hurdles. Kyle Grimm won the boys javelin behind a toss of 167'06 and also finished third in the discus. For the lady Bluejays the 4x800 meter relay team raced to a time of 10:28.49 to earn the gold.

Some other top notch performances for the Sabetha boys had a silver medal for Braden Cox in the high jump, while the 4x800 meter relay team took third. Joel Hackney and Michael Gugelman notched fourth and fifth place finishes in the boys triple jump. In the girls competition Skyler McAfee took second in the 800 meter run, while the 4x400 meter relay team also took second. A third place finish in the 400 meter dash was earned by Hattie Luckert, while Kinley Schuette took fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. 
Morgan Schuette and Gracie Saner each also registered fourth place finishes coming in the high jump and the pole vault, respectively, while Shea Duncan placed fifth in the shot put.

A throw of 107'06 earned Royal Valley's Kylie Moore first place in the girl’s discus to lead the Panthers performances at the Abilene Invite. Morgan Harvey had a strong day finishing third in the triple jump and fifth in the 100 meter dash, while Ivy Fink earned second in the girls high jump and a pair of fourth place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. Kenzie Hegemann tied for fourth in the girl’s pole vault and Mary Broxterman took fifth in the 200 meter dash. 

Royal Valley boys had the 4x400 meter relay team take second place, while Mikal Kitchkommie earned silver in the 200 meter dash and a bronze in the 100 meter dash. Kain Fink and Garrett Hicks each registered third place finishes for the Panthers coming in the boy’s high jump and pole vault, while Gavin Cumpton took fifth place in the 110 meter hurdles.
