Benedictine Continues Assault on Record Books in Win Over CMU
By Tom Kautz

Records are made to be broken and Benedictine football continued to set new marks Saturday in their 76-7 win over Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO.

The Raven offense was remarkable as they scored twice in the first quarter to lead 13-0.  Then the floodgates opened.  BC added five scores in the second quarter, including a defensive touchdown, to lead 48-0 at the half.  Two more scores in the third quarter pushed the lead to 62-0.

Ejay Johnson (5' 9", 195, Sr., O'Fallon, IL) led the Raven running attack gaining 145 yards on 16 carries with 4 touchdowns.  Teammate Cole Hollaway (5' 7", Sr., Tonganoxie, KS) was hot on his heels with 14 carries and 133 yards adding 2 TD's.

The defense got in on the scoring as well as LB Brett Shepardson (6', 2", 200, Soph., Platte City, MO)  scooped and scored on a 35 yard fumble recovery.  The Raven "D" also forced 5 CMU turnovers with three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

76 points is the new single-game scoring record surpassing the old mark of 72 which the Ravens set just 3 weeks ago.  Also, the point differential of 69 is a new margin of victory record.

BC, now 5-1, takes off next Saturday as they have a bye week.  Next up will be a road trip to Lamoni, IA on October 14th as the Ravens are hosted by Graceland University and the first game of Divisional play in the conference.  Pre game on KAIR 93.7 FM is set for 12:30 with live play-by-play and the kickoff at 1:00.
