By Tom Kautz

The Benedictine Ravens went to 2-0 on the young 2017 season as they took a 37-10 victory over Evangel University in Atchison Saturday afternoon.

Playing a cross-divisional opponent in the HAAC for the second consecutive week, BC took an early lead.  It was 20-3 by halftime as another large crowd in Wilcox Stadium enjoyed  near perfect weather and an equally splendid performance from the Ravens.  QB Shaefer Schuetz went 11/14 passing with 1 touchdown while RB Ejay Johnson gained 123 yards on 23 carries and added 2 more scores.

A swarming Raven defense allowed the Crusaders only 43 rushing yards on 35 carries and was led by Jalen James with 8 total tackles.

Next Saturday provides a road test when BC heads to KC, MO and their final meeting with Avila University who will be leaving the conference after this season.

Kickoff is set for noon in Zarda Stadium. KAIR 93.7 coverage will begin with pre-game at 11:30 am.
