30 Northeast Kansas Area Athletes Earn All-State Basketball Honors by the KBCA

In a year in which nine Northeast Kansas area teams hailing from the Big Seven League, Twin Valley League or Northeast Kansas League finished in the Top four in Classes 4A to 1A in basketball there were several great individual players on the court, also. 

Thirty area basketball athletes have earned All-State honors from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. 

Class 1A-Division II had the girls State runner-up and fourth place finishing team come from the TVL and both those teams have two girls earning All-State honors from the KBCA. Seniors, Courtney Heinen and Kiersten Talbot of the State runner-up Axtell Eagles were named first and second team All-State by the KBCA, respectively. While, Wetmore Cardinal senior, Gerae Haverkamp and junior, Dakota McQueen both earned honorable mention All-State in 1A-DII. 

The Centralia Panthers took home both the girls and boys 1A-Division State Championship and have three players earning All-State honors from the KBCA. Junior, Cassidy Haufler and sophomore, Katie Glatczak each go the first team nod for All-State for the lady Panthers, while senior, Braden Deters earned first team All-State for the boys. Hanover also had both the girls and boys teams at State this year and the boys took fourth led by junior, Will Bruna and senior, Trey Loshe who were named first and second team All-State by the KBCA, respectively. Junior, Ashton Jueneman and freshman, Macy Doebele each earned honorable mention All-State honors for the lady Wildcats of Hanover. 

The TVL continued to haul in All-State honors in Class 1A-DI as Doniphan West Mustang seniors, Cooper Leach and Austin Taylor earned first team and honorable mention All-State, respectively, while Frankfort lady Wildcat freshman, Emilee Ebert picked up honorable mention All-State honors. 

Jackson Heights Cobra boys grabbed the Class 2A State title this year and a pair of big time scorers helped them to that title. Senior, Zane Ricther and junior, Wyatt Olberding earned first and second team All-State honors after their strong years. While three other guys from Northeast Kansas earned 2A All-State honorable mention from the KBCA as Byrce Noll of Jefferson County North, Kyle McGatlin of Washington County and Cuttar Huss of Troy picked up the honors. 

On the girls side of Class 2A, Valley Heights Mustang senior, Brandi Jo Roepke bounced back from an ACL injury quite well for a strong season and earned first team All-State, while Valley Falls Dragon senior, Ali Brown picked up second team All-State after helping her team take third at State. Callie Watson another Valley Falls senior, along with Washington County Tiger senior, Courtney Moore each earned honorable mention All-State honors. 

Sabetha Bluejay girls and boys each earned State runner-up in Class 3A this year and each have an All-State honoree as senior, Alexis McAfee earned first team and senior, Calder Keehn picked up second team honors. Hiawatha Red Hawk senior, Emily Gartner picked up second team All-State honors, while senior, Avery Lewman of the Maur Hill lady Ravens and Riverside Cyclone senior, Grant Shue each registered honorable mention All-State honors in 3A. 

Atchison senior, Wykeen Gill Jr. grabbed second team All-State honors in Class 4A-Division II, while Jeff West Tiger senior, Chord Livingston was the only other area player in 4A to earn All-State honors as he was named honorable mention 4A-DII.
