Nemaha Central Boys Win & Girls Take Second at Silver Lake Track Invite

It was a strong start to the track and field season for the Nemaha Central Thunder as the took first for the boys and second for the girls at the Silver Lake Invitational out of the nine teams competing and had nine event wins on the day.

Marysville Bulldogs also were in action at Silver Lake and started the track season strong as the lady Bulldogs took third as a team and while the boys finished seventh as a team had several Top three finishers on the day.

Nemaha Central Thunder boys won the Silver Lake Invitational team crown by 34.5 total points and were led by Jacob Koelzer who started his track season sprinting and leaping to gold medals. Koelzer darted to the wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 10.97 and 23.08, while leaping to the gold in the long jump (22'02.25). He wasn't the only gold medalists on the day for Nemaha Central as Caleb Bradley won the pole vault title with a vault of 4'10 and the Thunder 4x100 meter relay team posted a time of 46.02 to win that event. Both Winston Meyer and Caleb Henry notched second place finishes on the day with their performances in the shot put and pole vault, respectively.

For the lady Thunder they took second as a team finishing only 14.5 points behind the host Silver Lake. Kaley Dalinghaus helped led the lady Thunder on the day as she tossed her way to first place in both the shot put and javelin with tosses of 39'02 and 133'07, respectively, winning the javelin by over 27 feet and also recorded a second place finish in the discus. Laura Macke and Angela Holthaus also each grab golds winning the high jump (4'10) and 400 meter dash (1:06.54), respectively. Rachael Baumgartner hauled in a pair of silvers and a bronze to start her track season taking second in the pole vault and 300 meter hurdles, while placing third in the 100 meter hurdles. Nemaha Central girls also notched a second place finish in the 4x100 meter relay and third in the 4x800 meter relay, while Allison Rottinghaus took second in the triple jump. 

Marysville girls finished third as a team out of nine schools competing at the Silver Lake Invitational and had Grace Stohs win the pole vault with a vault of 10'06. Claire Cudney picked up a pair of second place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles and high jump, while Avery Williams had a pair of bronze medals on the day with third place finishes in the 300 meter hurdles and long jump. Both Nicole Franco and Karson Lindeen also registered third place finishes in the high jump and shot put, respectively, while the Bulldogs 4x100 meter relay team took third, also.

Six Top three finishes were garnered by the Marysville boys with a second place by Dayne Brown in the javelin and second in the 200 meter dash by James Montgomery leading the way. Montgomery also took third in the 100 meter dash, while Ethan Craig placed third in the 300 meter hurdles. Chase Green nabbed third place in the javelin and the Bulldog 4x400 meter relay team took third, also. 

The track season continues for Nemaha Central on Tuesday, April 5th at the Holton Invitational, while Marysville continues their season on Friday, April 8th in Concordia.
