Sabetha Bluejays Girls Tennis Compete at Hayden Invite

The Sabetha Bluejays off their first place team performance in the season opening competition traveled to Topeka to participate in the Hayden Invitational on Thursday afternoon and was highlighted by an individual second place performance, while going 5-8 overall in the competition.

Lexi Wenger paced the Bluejays on the day going 2-1 in singles competition on the day in the singles number one at the Hayden Invite. Wenger won 8-3 over Hayden competitor and won via forfeit over St. James Academy competitor, as the match was 3-3 when the forfeit happened; her lone loss came against Baldwin falling 8-0. Courtney Plattner competed in singles number two competition placing third by going 1-2 in competition, picking up her win against Hayden (8-4), while falling to St. James (8-1) and Baldwin (8-2).

In doubles competition, the tandem of Jordyn Wells and Alexa Menold posted a 1-2 record to finish third in doubles competition number one. Wells and Menold won their matchup against the team from Baldwin, winning 8-2, while falling to St. James team 8-1 and Hayden team 8-0. The team of Abby Manning and Lindsey Chadwell also posted a 1-2 record on the day winning 8-3 against Baldwin, while falling 8-2 to St. James and 8-4 to the Hayden team.

The Bluejays take flight on the tennis court again next Wednesday, September 10th in Topeka at the Seaman Invitational.
