What a year it has been throughout Northeast Kansas with top performances each and every week across the MSC Sports Radio Network listening area and for our final athlete of the week for the year it goes to Doniphan West’s Elle Williams.

 Williams is coming off a pair of state championships this past week at the state meet in Wichita where she claimed the 800-meter run while also being a part of the Mustangs 4 by 800-meter relay team that also won gold.

Williams is accustomed to winning golds for the Mustangs as she has seven wins in the 800 this year along with two wins in the 1600 and several wins as part of the 4 by 800-meter relay.

Her two state titles on Saturday led the Mustangs to a fifth-place team finish, while the junior racked up a personal best in her individual title in the 800.

This came after she won a regional title by three seconds and a league title by five seconds in the 800.

Williams now heads into summer and will look to come back next year and put together a strong cross-country season before defending her individual title next spring.
