Postseason wrestling continued over the weekend with area guys moving on to sub-state tournaments this weekend and the ACCHS Tigers are sending two wrestlers to sub-state led by junior Mason Scholz who claimed a regional championship at 132 pounds.
Scholz went 3-0 on the day with two pins including one in just 40 seconds in the opening round before a pin in 5:29 in the semifinals and a 9-1 major decision victory in the title match.
The three wins improved his record to 17-4 on the season as he sits as the No. 2-ranked wrestler in the 132-pound weight in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association rankings.
He also claimed a district championship two weeks ago and last season made it to the state tournament where he finished with a 1-2 record at 120 pounds.
As a freshman Scholz went 33-6 overall and claimed fifth place at state winning four matches to take fifth place.
Scholz now gets set for the sub-state meet coming up on Saturday which is slated to be hosted by Marion High School beginning at 12-noon.
