Holton Wildcat, Mason Strader Has Big Day Rushing In Wildcat Win Over Hiawa
Mason Strader

The Holton Wildcats offense is built on the run and has found plenty of success over the years and this year and that success came perhaps from a guy that wasn’t expected to run the ball in a big fashion.

Holton senior quarterback, Mason Strader has been feeding the ball to his teammates who have compiled the yards this season as the team entered Friday night versus Hiawatha with four guys with 230+ yards rushing and six with 100+yards on the year. However none of those guys were Strader himself but he changed that in a big way against Hiawatha on Friday night.

Leading only 30-28 early in the second half Holton went on a scoring barrage notching 28 consecutive points with all coming by the feet of Strader and that run ultimately lifted Holton to the 58-35 win. The Holton senior finished with round 250 yards rushing and five touchdowns on the night. While on defense he had five tackles and a forced fumble.

On the season Strader entered Friday with only 73 yards rushing and now has over 320 this season and his first five rushing touchdowns, while he has thrown for nearly 130 yards with two touchdowns. On defense Mason has recorded around 30 tackles and has a pair of interceptions.

The Wildcats with a 4-2 mark now turn their attention to District play in a District that involves Jeff West, Hayden and Santa Fe Trail and Strader and company look to earn another bid to the postseason for the Wildcats.
