Football - Hiawatha vs Nemaha Valley 10/30/2012 7:00 PM

Hiawatha avenge a loss to Nemaha Valley from the regular season with their first playoff win since 2001. Redhawks took the early lead and never relinquished it in the ball game riding the back of one Denzel Chilcoat who carried the call 36 times for 411 yards and 4 TD's, while adding a 84-yard kickoff return.

Hiawatha registered 602 total yards of offense in the ballgame, while Denzel account for a lot of it, Brad Chilcoat threw for 140 yards and a TD pass to Conner Bigham who caught 7 balls for 112 yards.

Nemaha Valley struggled to run the ball with only 19 rush yards but saw a huge passing game from quarterback, Caleb Meyer who was 10-21 232 yards 4 TD's. Alex and Michael Rottinghaus both caught 2 TD's each in the game, apiece. David Holthaus added a big special teams play with a 68 yard kick return TD.

Nemaha Valley finishes the season 7-3, with their best season in quite a while and Hiawatha moves to 8-2 and will host the top 3A team in the state in Silver Lake on Saturday at 6:00pm.
