2019 Sabetha Invitational – Results

Despite a rainy start to the week the track season rolled along Thursday afternoon for area teams at the Sabetha Invitational and it was the Nemaha Central girls along with the Sabetha boys each claiming team titles.

The Thunder girls won the team title behind seven first place finishes with three each from Alleigh Kramer and Jacy Dalinghaus. Kramer captured the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and long jump, while Dalinghaus won the shot put, discus and javelin. Nemaha Central also took home one relay event win, as the Thunder captured the 4 by 100-meter relay crown.

Centralia finished second on the girl’s side with four more golds, with Maegan Koch winning the 400-meter dash, Kennedy Becker the triple jump and Breanna Schmitz the pole vault. The Panthers also added one relay event win, as the team of Koch, Morgan Kramer, Abbie Flentie and Tamra Jones captured the 4 by 400-meter relay.

Sabetha added two more win as Hattie Lukert won the 800-meter run, while she teamed up with Hunter Lowdermilk, Jadyn Dorn and Skylar McAfee to win the 4 by 800-meter relay.

Hiawatha and Horton rounded out the girl’s side, as the Redhawks had Claire Geiger win the 100-meter hurdles while the Chargers took home the throwers relay.

On the boy’s side Sabetha captured the team title behind five first place finishes beginning with Micah Romines capturing the 400-meter dash before he teamed up with Henry Glynn, Kaden Dillon and Braden Cox to win the 4 by 800-meter relay. The Bluejays also had Mason Engelken win the 300-meter hurdles and Kaleb Grimm the javelin while Sabetha finished up by winning the throwers relay.

Nemaha Central took third as a team with four more wins, led by Dalton Schmelzle who won the long jump and high jump. Nathan Deters also won the shot put, while the relay team of Schmelzle, Dylan Schultejans, Gavin Duryea and Ty Hermesch captured the 4 by 100-meter crown.

The day was rounded out by Centralia and Horton, as the Panthers had Daegan Steinlage win the discus while the Chargers had Gunnar Madere win the triple jump.
