Sacred Heart Wins MUDECAS Track Titles and Pawnee City Sophomore Claims 4 Gold Medals

 The Falls City Sacred Heart Boys and the and girls were crowned champions of the “B” Division of the MUDECAS Track meet Saturday in Pawnee City.  The Sterling Jet teams finished second.

The Irish girls scored 133 points, Sterling had 111, Diller-Odell was third with 108, Pawnee City was fourth and Lewiston finished 6th.

On the boys side the Irish scored 140 points, the Jets were second with 111 and Pawnee City was third with 76.  Lewiston was sixth.  

In the “A” Division Freeman won the girls meet with 162 points and the boys meet with 174.  The Johnson County Central girls were 5th, Southern sixth and HTRS was seventh.  For the boys Johnson County Central was second, Southern third, HTRS was fifth. 

In the “B” Division individual results Pawnee City sophomore Shelby Hundley had a great day with four gold medals.  Hundley won the 100 meters, 200 meters, 100 meter and 300 meter hurdle races.

Other event winners for the girls were Kelsi Fouraker of Sacred Heart in the 800; Elizabeth Magdanz in the pole vault; Maggie Goltz in the triple jump and Emily Rohrer in the shot put. The Irish 4 x 400 relay team of Fouraker, Elizabeth and Abby Magdanz and Rachel Parrish also claimed gold.

Tara Hestermann of Sterling won the 1600and Jordan Lempka won the discus.  The Jets also won the 4 x 800 meter relay.

For the boys Pawnee City senior Austin Smith picked up gold medals in the high jump and triple jump.  Scott Borcher won the shot and the discus for the Indians.  

Sacred Heart event winners include Matt Mullins in the pole vault;  Yianni Haralabidis in the 100 meters; Lane Barnhill in the 400 and Will Buerenheide in the 110 hurdles.

Sterling won the 4 x 400 relay.  Trey Trauernicht won both the 800 and 1600 meter races;  Chris Wenzl won the 110 meter hurdles.  

Austin Schmitz of Lewiston won the long jump.
