(Peru, NE) - Peru State College senior Sarah Williams was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Monday.

Williams, who is a Hiawatha native, was honored for her performance at the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Invitational last Friday, where she placed fourth with a time of 23-minutes, 34-seconds over the six-kilometer course.

Williams was the top N-A-I-A runner by over 90-seconds in a field of mostly NCAA Division two runners.

Williams will be considered now for selection as the NAIA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, which will be announced this (Tuesday) afternoon.

The Bobcats compete at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln on Saturday.
