Nebraska junior Jordan Hooper claimed on spot on the five-player Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Region 6 team for the second straight year, the WBCA announced on Tuesday.
The 6-2 forward from Alliance, Neb., led the Huskers in scoring and rebounding with 18.0 points and 8.7 boards per game. Hooper, who earned an appearance on the WBCA All-America ballot for the second straight year, is a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection.
A candidate for the Wade, Naismith and Wooden national player-of-the-year awards, Hooper already ranks among the top 10 players in Nebraska history in scoring (10th, 1,637 points) and rebounding (6th, 780 rebounds). Hooper also ranks No. 2 in Husker history with 208 career three-pointers and No. 3 at NU with 25 career double-doubles.
Hooper ranked fifth in the Big Ten in scoring, fourth in rebounding, fifth in three-pointers made (2.4 pg) and eighth in free throw percentage (.813) in 2012-13.
She will lead the No. 24 Huskers (No. 6 seed, 23-8, 12-4) into the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Chattanooga (No. 11 seed, 29-3, 19-1 SoCon) on Saturday in College Station, Texas. Tip-off is expected for approximately 5:30 p.m. at Reed Arena.
