New Nebraska offensive line coach John Garrison says he's driven to help return the Cornhuskers to championship caliber.

Garrison was the freshman long snapper on the last Nebraska team to win a conference title. That was in 1999. The team dropped to 7-7 when he was a senior in 2002.

Garrison said he's thankful to have an opportunity to "help right the ship" as a coach.

Coach Bo Pelini hired Garrison as an intern in 2008. Garrison became assistant line coach in 2011 and was promoted to head line coach after last season.

Garrison said his top priority this spring is to improve the line's pass protection. The Huskers allowed 2.5 sacks a game to rank 90th in 2012.
