In March, the Axtell boys basketball team made history, capturing the second state championship in school history with a decisive 57–39 win over undefeated, top-seeded Cunningham. The victory carried special significance, as Axtell’s previous championship in 2013 also came against an undefeated, No. 1-ranked team.

The Eagles finished the season 25–1 overall and a perfect 10–0 in league play, setting a program record for the most wins in a single season. Along the way, they secured their first TVL title and first league championship since 1996, while also capturing the TVL Tournament crown. The season added another milestone for Coach Tynon, who notched his 151st career victory.

With dominance on the court, historic accomplishments, and a season for the record books, Axtell’s 2025 boys basketball campaign stands as one of the area’s top sports moments of the year.
