KNZA Broadcast: Perry-Lecompton Girls Open Season Defeating Jefferson County North

The Perry-Lecompton girls basketball team opened their season on Tuesday night defeating Jefferson County North at home 52-36.

The Kaws (1-0) won just two games all last season and opened the 25-26 campaign with an early victory.

Perry led 16-11 after the first quarter and 29-22 at halftime. They extended that out to 42-30 after the third quarter and they would pull away as they led the game wire-to-wire.

Macie Corcoran was the KNZA Player of the Game presented by Citizens State Bank & Trust Company in Hiawatha as she finished with a game-high 19 points. The Kaws also got nine points from Kaelyn Metcalfe and six points apiece from Jolie Corcoran and Emmy Reed.

Jefferson County North (0-1) was led by Gwynn Blattner with 11 points while Reese Noll finished with eight points. They got seven points apiece from Rylee Thompson and Karlee Porter.
