The Silver Lake Eagles won back-to-back matches against Jeff West and Perry-Lecompton in straight sets, and with the win over Perry improved to 9-0 in the Big East League to outright secure Big East title. It’s the first Big East title for Silver Lake in the new league after Nemaha Central won the first Big East Title last season. Also tonight, Jeff West managed to beat Perry in three sets, which meant the Kaws went 0-2 at their final home triangular.
Jeff West over Perry-Lecompton (21-25, 25-14, 25-15)
The Perry-Lecompton Kaws came out hot in set one with Macey Corcoran putting down six kills and an ace down in the first set victory 25-21. Right after the hot start from the Kaws the Jeff West Tigers would go ahead and control the rest of the momentum and tide and Freshman Liz Deeter would finish with 7 kills, 2 blocks, and an ace. While Addison Schwinn and Emile Dean would have six kills a piece to dominate the front row as well. The Tigers finished with 27 total kills against the Kaws and four blocks.
Silver Lake over Jeff West (25-14, 25-20)
Silver Lake made quick work in set one 25-14 over Jeff West with Karis Dieter, Jaiden Wise, and Paige Heiman creating all sorts of carnage at the net. Jeff West made set two competitive at one point being uo 20-18 but Silver Lake would manage to refocus and come back to win it 25-20 with Jaylee Whitehead securing the match victory with three straight aces to finish it. Wise had 8 kills and 10 total points while Dieter had 6 kills, an ace, and a block against the Tigers. Seven different Eagles got on the board with points in the victory.
Silver Lake over Perry-Lecompton (25-22, 25-18)
The Kaws made Silver Lake sweat a little bit in later portions of both set one and set two, but once Silver Lake would call a timeout, coach Johnson got her team right back in it with intensity. Jaiden Wise had another 8 kills against the Kaws, Dieter had four kills, Weber had 2 kills, and Paige Heiman finished with two kills and had three aces. Silver Lake had nine total aces in the night to just two service errors which was massively impressive.
Summary
Silver lake is now 34-1 on the season and 9-0 in the Big East with the outright title. Perry drops to 18-12 overall, while Jeff West balances to a 20-12 record.
Player of the night went to Jaiden Wise who finished with 16 kills and 19 total points for the Eagles. Silver Lake finished with 43 total kills as a team tonight.
