The Sabetha baseball team opened up the regional tournament on their home field on Friday night with a 14-1 four-inning win against Atchison County.

The Bluejays (14-12) scored three runs in the first inning on two hits with an RBI coming off the bat of Collin Montgomery.

Both teams would score a run in the second inning. Sabetha scored on an error while the Tigers (7-17) got their run on an RBI groundout by Nathanial Oom.

The Bluejays would truly put the game away in the third inning as they sent 12 to the plate and scored seven runs on six hits.

The inning was highlighted by an RBI triple by Cole Menold and a two RBI triple by Reid Mitchell.

Nine of the 10 batters in the game for Sabetha reached base and seven of those batters scored at least one run.

Mitchell went 4-for-4 with a triple, three singles, and two RBI's. Montgomery had two hits with three RBI's, and Mitchell Kramer reached base in all four of his at-bats and scored three runs.

The Bluejays will face rival Nemaha Central on Wednesday (5/21) at 4:00 PM in the semifinals in Sabetha. The Thunder defeated Hiawatha 12-2 in the quarterfinal matchup.
