In their first season in the new Big East league, the Rossville boys basketball team continued their season winning the Sub-State title game on Friday night against Maur Hill-Mount Academy 69-60.

They opened the Sub-State tournament with a 52-32 win over Doniphan West and then would defeat Horton on the road 64-51 in the semifinals.

Rossville started their season off at 4-1 with the lone loss in that stretch against Sacred Heart. They would lose two of their next three games to Hiawatha and Perry-Lecompton before rattling off three straight wins to win the Valley Falls mid-season tournament.

Since the start of Feb., Rossville has won eight of 11 games with their only losses coming against Abilene, Silver Lake, and St. Marys in that stretch.

Rossville has five seniors on their roster with Tayson Horak, Mahki Jackson, Brock Bush, Kameron Badura, and Will Koch.

Rossville's leading scorer this season has been junior Jack Donovan who has averaged roughly 18 points per game.

They have averaged over 64 points per game and have hit just shy of 40% of their three point shots this season.

The Dawgs are the #6 ranked team in Class 2A and will head to the State Tournament with a record of 16-7. It will be their first trip to the state tournament since 2011 which will be held in Manhattan March 12-15.
