The St. Marys boys cross country team won the Royal Valley Invitational on Thursday afternoon with Perry-Lecompton and Silver Lake finishing in second and third respectively. 

St. Marys sophomore Benny Jones won the event by more than a minute over Perry-Lecompton's Marius Carlsen who took second place. 

Gabe Kasprzak of St. Marys finished in third place followed by Ethan Tolbert of Perry-Lecompton and Isaac Gonzalez of St. Marys to round out the top five finishers. 

Holton, Wamego, Santa Fe Trail, and Royal Valley rounded out the team standings. 

In the girls race it was Sophie Waters of Jefferson West who won the event with her time more than a minute better than second place which was Madelyn Wonnell of Rossville. 

Elayna Smith of Royal Valley finished in third place followed by Samantha Hutton of Perry-Lecompton in fourth place and Lexi Culberth of Cornerstone Family in fifth place.
