Navy Team Tops Gold Team in NEK All-Star Volleyball Game

The NEK All-Star Volleyball game took place on Saturday at Highland Community College with the Navy team defeating the Gold team 4-1.

In the first set, both teams went on runs, but it was a six-point run for the Navy team that put them up 15-8 and helped them win 25-17.

The second set saw the Gold team settle in a bit as they hung around longer, but once again a late run from the Navy team, which gave them a two-set advantage with a 25-20 win.

The Gold team would get their first and only set in the third with a 25-23 which was close to the end.

The Navy team bounced right back and jumped on the Gold team in the fourth set winning 25-16 with not a ton of resistance.

In the final set, the Gold team had an 8-7 lead, but the Navy team won the final eight points to secure the set 15-8.

The Gold team was made up of Clara Johnson, Maggie Toerber, Ashlyn Gudenkauf, Emma Hardwick, Gwyn Noll, Taylor Weishaar, Karlie Grable, Victoria Kuckleman, Rees Brown, Camryn Duryea, Carley Bilderback and coached by Cindy Osterhaus.

The Navy team consisted of Alexis Dalinghaus, Tessa Lohse, Olivia Scott, Evelyn Smith, Taygen Reno, Jordyn Renk, Delana Murk, Emily Langley, Alexis Messalle, Brenna Smith and coached by Kristel Bontrager
