Valley Falls and Jeff West Baseball Will Start Season Ranked by KABC

It's not quite spring sport season yet but the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches are getting people ready for the high school baseball season with the release of the preseason rankings for the upcoming season.

A pair of area teams that made their state tournaments last year find themselves in the KABC preseason rankings to start of the year, as both are in the top five of the top 10 in their respective classes.

In Class 4A, the Jeff West Tigers look to continue to build upon a great season last year this season as they will start the year off ranked fourth in 4A. Tigers earned the a state bid last year after winning their regional; Jeff West fell in the first round of state last year to Ottawa as the four seed with a 7-4 loss. Jeff West finished last year with a 19-4 record.

In Class 2-1A, the Valley Falls Dragons will also start the season ranked fourth in their respective classification after making the state tournament last year and placing fourth at state after going 1-2 at the state tourney. Dragons won the opening round 9-4 over Syracuse but fell 14-11 in the semifinals to Sedan and then lost 8-3 in the third place game to St. Paul. Valley Falls last season registered a 18-10 record last year.

Spring Sports are on the horizon and the area baseball teams look to have success this season.
