With mid-season tournaments now in the rear-view mirror, we have just one month of regular-season basketball. The KBCA has released its newest rankings ahead of the first set of games in the new month.

Nemaha Central remains number six in the Class 3A girls rankings. The Thunder are coming off a third-place finish at the Wellsville Top Gun Invitational.

Riverside continues to cruise through its regular season schedule as they remain number one in Class 2A. The Cyclones picked up three sizable wins before the rankings were released on Tuesday afternoon. They remain unbeaten and atop the Big 7 standings.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy stays at number eight after losing to Troy by 15 but bouncing back with a win against McLouth. The Ravens are still undefeated in Northeast Kansas League play and have just two losses on the season.

The KBCA was a week late to bump Centralia up in the rankings, but better late than never. The Panthers are up to number three in the Class 1A-DI, likely being adjusted for their TVL Tournament victory from a couple of weeks ago. Since then, they defeated Hanover at home to stay perfect in TVL play.

Frankfort is right behind them at number five which is a one-spot deduction from last week. This is even though the Wildcats didn’t lose a game last week. In fact, they upended Clifton-Clyde on the road, who was number two in the state at the time. The Eagles have since slid to number six.

Speaking of sliding, Hanover has slid down one spot for the second consecutive week as the Wildcats fall to number four in Class 1A-DII.

In the Class 4A boys rankings, Atchison stays number two. The Phoenix were handed their first loss of the season by 5A #3 Highland Park.

Sabetha is still ranked ninth in Class 3A. They got a blowout win over Silver Lake last Friday.

Clifton-Clyde drops a spot to number six in the Class 1A-DI rankings.

Axtell remains number two in Class 1A-DII. The Eagles didn’t have any games since the last rankings were released, and they currently sit only behind top-ranked Northern Valley. Hanover dropped another spot to number five after they lost by 16 at Centralia.
