FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior Monica Engelman poured in a career-best 26 points, including 18 in the second half, as Kansas overcame a 23-point first-half deficit to post a 76-75 Big 12 Conference victory over TCU at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Wednesday night.

Kansas, which trailed 49-27 at the half, improved to 15-8 on the season and 6-6 in Big 12 play. TCU dropped its 12th-straight and fell to 7-16 overall and 0-12 in the league. The TCU loss spoiled the 35-point night by freshman point guard Zahna Medley

KU opened the second half with an 11-3 run, behind four points by Angel Goodrich, to close the deficit to 52-38 with 16:07 left in the game. The Jayhawks cut the lead to 60-53 with 7:50 remaining, thanks to a 9-2 run. Medley scored five-straight points for TCU and the Horned Frogs pushed the lead back to 65-53.

KU continued to fight and Engelman's jumper off the left wing with 3:28 left capped a 15-2 run and gave the Jayhawks their first lead of the game, 68-67. In the final three minutes, the lead changed five times and twice in the final minute KU's Carolyn Davis gave the Jayhawks a one-point lead on layup baskets. The final Davis' bucket gave KU its 76-75 lead with 12.5 seconds on the clock. TCU's Kamy Cole missed the potential game winner with three seconds left and KU escaped with the one-point come-from-behind win.

TCU jumped out to a 10-0 start, as Kansas missed its first four field goal attempts and committed five early turnovers. The Horned Frogs lifted its lead to 17-4 at the 14:53 mark, as Medley accounted for 10 of TCU's points.

Kansas repeatedly cut the deficit to single digits, but TCU's Medley continued to counter to push the advantage over 10 points. Medley finished the first half with 27 points, equaling her previous career high for a game. She shot 8-for-11 from the field and 6-for-8 on threes during the first 20 minutes.

TCU led 49-27 at the break, which was the highest point total by a KU opponent in the first half all season. The halftime deficit was also the largest of the year. KU committed 15 first-half turnovers and finished a season-high 23.

Sophomore Chelsea Gardner grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and added a career-high six blocked shots for the Jayhawks, while Carolyn Davis posted her second-straight double-double and her 21st of her career with 19 points and 13 boards. Asia Boyd also added 14 points for KU, including three critical second-half three-pointers. Goodrich finished with 10 assists.

The Jayhawks will return to action Sunday for the annual "Jayhawks for a Cure" game against Oklahoma. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and tip at 1:40 p.m. from Allen Fieldhouse.
