MANHATTAN, Kan. - Three Kansas State players scored in double figures and K-State used a 14-2 second-half scoring run to down Big 12 foe Texas, 68-47, Wednesday night in Bramlage Coliseum. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats (13-11, 4-8 Big 12) were led by Brittany Chambers, who in addition to recording a career-high eight assists, poured in 24 points, marking the 30th time she has scored 20 or more points in a single contest and the 97th time she has scored in double figures in her K-State career.

Joining Chambers in double digits were Chantay Caron and Haley Texada. Caron registered 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Texada chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds.

Facing a considerable size disadvantage against Texas (9-14, 2-10), K-State used a pesky defensive effort and a solid performance from beyond the arc, connecting on 12-of-33 from three-point range, to avenge a 59-40 loss to the Longhorns in late January.

After back-and-forth action for most of the first half, K-State opened things up with a 14-4 scoring run, capped back-to-back layups from Caron and Mariah White. Texas began to chip away at the K-State lead, but sophomore guard Heidi Brown knocked down a three pointer from the top of the key with 47 ticks on the clock to give the Wildcats a 33-22 lead at halftime.

Texada opened up the second half scoring barrage with a three-pointer at the 19:27 mark, freshman Bri Craig hit a fast-break circus layup, followed by back-to-back threes from Chambers and Texada, stretching the Wildcat led to 23 points. K-State's defense held Texas scoreless until 15:51 mark in the second half.

Texas used a 7-1 scoring run of their own to cut the K-State lead to 48-31 with 12:49 remaining but the Wildcats were able to hold off the UT attack and regain a large margin of victory that held until the final buzzer sounded.

The 47 points marked the fourth time this season K-State has held an opponent to 49-points or less. This was the lowest point total for a K-State Big 12 opponent this season and the lowest since K-State held Texas to 45 points on Feb. 18, 2012.

Leading the Longhorns was sophomore Nneka Enemkpali, who recorded 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting, while collecting a game-high 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Empress Davenport was the only other Texas player in double figures, as she added 11 points on the night.

Kansas State will begin a two-game road trip to the state of Oklahoma, as the Wildcats will face Oklahoma State on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will be available on the K-State Sports Network and for free on kstatesports.com.
