K-Preps have released their latest football rankings after the first-round of the playoffs concluded this past week.

Axtell is still the #1 ranked team in Class 8M-II after they won their 35th game in a row in the opening round against Wakefield 58-0. The Eagles have the current longest winning streak in the state and are in search of their third straight state title.

Victoria, Canton-Galva, Minneola, and Osborne round out the top five behind Axtell in 8M-II.

Centralia, Jefferson County North, Jackson Heights, and Valley Heights were all victorious in their opening round games but are on the outside of the top five in Class 1A.

St. Marys Colgan, St. Marys, Conway Springs, Smith Center, and Sedgwick are the current top five teams in Class 1A.

Nemaha Central is still the #1 ranked team in Class 2A after they shut out their 8th straight opponent last week beating Pleasant Ridge 48-0. The Thunder have won 22 in a row and lead all classifications in scoring defense as they search for their second straight state title.

Sabetha bounced back with a big opening round win over ACCHS 71-6 and are ranked #4 this week. Sabetha's lone loss was in the final game of the regular season to Nemaha Central.

The rest of 2A in the rankings this week include Hoisington at #2, Southeast of Saline at #3, and Garden Plain at #5.

Atchison holds true at #5 in Class 4A after they opened their playoff run with a 56-22 win at home over Bonner Springs. The Phoenix returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown against Bonner Springs and never looked back on their way to victory.
