Jackson Heights and Mission Valley start the first round of the playoffs at Dave Henry field, hosted by the Cobras. The Jackson Heights Cobras had a tough week of practice without their head coach Caleb Wick, but you wouldn’t of been able to tell with their performance they had on the field against the Vikings.

The game started with the Cobras winning the toss and electing to differ, kicking off to the Vikings. The Vikings started their first drive with a three-and-out and had to punt to the Cobras; After this, the Cobras controlled the tidal wave and sank the Vikings ship with four straight offensive drives resulting in touchdowns. The Vikings were only able to respond to the first Cobra touchdown (scored by Josh Smith) with a Porter Deters fifty-two yard run touchdown run.

Once the Cobras were able to enter the second quarter it was back-to-back-to-back scoring and they were able to grow a separated score from the 6-6 first quarter score to a 28-6 going into half. In the first half the Cobras had Drake Mellies touch the endzone twice and Josh Smith doing the same. Kade Holiday was able to come off a knee injury and get a few touches in the first half as well.

Entering the second half it was quite the snooze fest with only fourteen points put up in total and Jackson Heights looking towards the running game to run out the clock. The Biggest highlight in the second half came from the third quarter where quarterback Drake Mellies had a forty-two air yard pass to Josh Smith that set up a six-yard touchdown run by Titus Eisenbarth, his first of the year do to battling an ankle injury had at the start of the year.

The Vikings in the fourth quarter had their second and last touchdown of the game with eight minutes and fifty-four seconds left in the game. The Touchdown was an eight-yard screen pass from Porter Deters to Kaden Brobst that got taken to the left corner pilon.

The Game ended 36-12 Cobras finish victorious over their first playoff opponent with a turnover differential of 4-2, Cobras turning it over back-to-back in their final two drives. The Cobras will look onwards to face St. Mary’s next week at St. Marys in sectionals of the playoffs.
