3A #3 Hayden secured the District #4 Championship on Friday night at home with a 24-7 win over Holton.

Hayden (7-0) opened the game with a 13-play 65 yard touchdown drive capped off by a nine yard run by quarterback Jett Wahlmeier to give Hayden the early 7-0 lead. Freshman Mason Becker drilled a 39-yard field goal right before halftime as Hayden led Holton 10-0 at the intermission.

Holton (3-4) had one drive in the first half where they had it inside the Hayden 10 yard line and would end up with a turnover on downs.

Holton's first drive of the second half covered 15 plays and took over half the time off the clock in the quarter but once again turned it over inside the Hayden 10 yard line via a fumble.

Hayden would add to their lead on their first drive of the second half going 92 yards over 13 plays capped off by a short touchdown run by Dom Ridley to give them a 17-0 lead.

Holton would finally get on the board as Abbott Hundley broke off a 62-yard touchdown run which was the first points the Hayden defense had allowed since week three.

Hayden would add one more late touchdown to secure the win on a short run by Wahlmeier.

Holton outgained Hayden in the game as they finished with 311 yards, all rushing to Hayden's 242 yards. Hayden was more balanced with 140 on the ground and 102 through the air.

Hundely led Holton with 152 yards while Kyler Jackson added 112 yards.

Holton will host Jefferson West in the final game of the regular season next Friday night and Hayden will look to cap off a perfect regular season with a home game against Hiawatha.
