Centralia Girls and Axtell Boys XC Take Home TVL Titles

It was the Centralia girls and Axtell boys cross country teams who took home the 2023 TVL Titles on Thursday afternoon in Seneca at Spring Creek Golf Course.

GIRLS: Washington County's McKenzie Baker won the individual title with a time of 22:01.19 which was about nine seconds ahead of Troy's Gracie Grable who finished in second place. 

Centralia posted two top five finishes with Keelyn Rempe and Meleah Talley finishing third and fourth place respectively while Macy Grable of Troy finished fifth place to round out the top five. 

The remaining runners in the top 10 were Whitley Sikes of Clifton-Clyde, Hailey Begnoche of Clifton-Clyde, Laela Idol of Doniphan West, Cora Thompson of Centralia, and Belle Smith of Doniphan West. 

Clifton-Clyde finished second place in the team standings behind Centralia, followed by Doniphan West in third place, Troy in fourth place, and Axtell in fifth place. 

BOYS:  The Axtell boys posted the top two runners with Grady Buessing winning the individual title with a time of 17:20.58 followed by teammate Gavin Shaughnessy taking home second place. 

Cohen Girard of Clifton-Clyde finished in third place, Kris Fulkerson of Centralia finished in fourth place, and Hudson Nemechek of Valley Heights finished in fifth place. 

Rounding out the top 10 runners were Titus Cobb of Blue Valley in sixth, Brody Applegarth of Washington County in seventh, Garrison Sand of Washington County in eighth, Landon Begnoche of Clifton-Clyde in ninth, and Blaise Buessing of Axtell in 10th place. 

Washington County finished in second place in the team standings behind Axtell, followed by Clifton-Clyde in third place, and Centralia in fourth place.
