Holton Girls and Hiawatha Boys XC Take Home Big 7 League Titles

The Holton girls and Hiawatha boys cross country teams took home 2023 Big 7 League Titles on Thursday afternoon at Baldwin City Golf Course. 

GIRLS: Holton's Eva Cortes brought home the individual title with a time of 20:17.70 which was nearly one minute faster than Nemaha Central's Madilyn Mosteller who finished in second place. 

Aubrey Phillips of Jefferson West finished in third place, Pauly Rockey of Hiawatha finished in fourth place, and Hailey Nordhus of Nemaha Central finished in fifth place. 

Rounding out the top 10 runners were Maya Doney of Holton, Laura Metzger of Sabetha, Kennedy Smith of Holton, Addilyn Lefferd of Royal Valley, and Katie Bartlett of Perry-Lecompton. 

Hiawatha finished in second place in the team standings behind Holton, followed by Nemaha Central in third place, Royal Valley in fourth place, and Sabetha in fifth place. 

BOYS: Nemaha Central's John Langill won the individual title with a time of 16:42.50 which was roughly 11 seconds faster than Hiawatha's Jordan Hodge who finished in second place. 

Dominick Schnider of Royal Valley finished in third place, Charlie Lukert of Sabetha finished in fourth place, and Kalvin Evans of Sabetha finished in fifth place. 

Rounding out the top 10 runners were Felix McCartney of Hiawatha, Bob Langill of Nemaha Central, Konner Chandler of Hiawatha, Harry Langill of Nemaha Central, and Rylan Pittaway of Holton. 

Nemaha Central finished in second place behind Hiawatha in the team standings, followed by Sabetha in third place, Holton in fourth place, Royal Valley in fifth place, and Jefferson West in sixth place. 

It's the third year in a row that the Hiawatha boys have won the Big 7 League Title.
