Jefferson West Girls Golf Qualify for State Tournament with Second Place Finish at Regional's

The Jefferson West girls golf team qualified for the upcoming 3-1A State Tournament in Hesston after a second place finish at the Regional Tournament on Monday. Jefferson West was the host school as they held the tournament at Village Greens. 

The Tigers finished the day with a team score of 363 behind only Regional Champs Silver Lake who finished the tournament with a score of 345. 

Jefferson West was led by Sydney Thompson who finished the day in fourth place with a round of 83. Cooper Brading finished eighth with a 91, Taylor Rowe finished 10th with a 94, Addy Vanzandt tied for 11th with a 95, Ella Dickey tied for 15th with a 97, and Kinley Stones tied for 19th with a 99. 

"I am excited to see what they can do at state," said Tigers head coach Darin Lawhorn. "They have put in the time and have worked incredibly hard over the last three years and it's great to see them have so much success." 

Marysville had two top 20 finishes with Olivia Duever tied for 11th with a 95 and Olivia Sandmann tied for 19th with a 99. Maur Hill-Mount Academy had two participants with Sydney Johnson finishing in a tie for 27th with a 103 and Hailey Gibson with a 111 which was tied for 44th place. 

Hesston, Osage City, and Marysville rounded out the top five team scores. Silver Lake's Klara Kleinig won the tournament with a round of 75. 

The Class 3-1A State Tournament will be held October 16-17 at Hesston Golf Course. More information regarding the state tournaments can be found here
