Week six provided some fireworks and now heading into the second to last week of the regular season, K-Preps have released their updated rankings

No surprise once against as Axtell is the #1 ranked team in 8M-II as they won their 32nd straight game on Friday against Hanover 56-0. After giving up 44 points in week one against Cair Paravel, the Eagles have given up a total of 18 points in their last five games and have been consistently finishing games at halftime via the mercy rule.

For the first time in the K-Preps ranks, Frankfort has entered the rankings at #4 in 8M-II. The 5-1 Wildcats have been dominant since their week three loss to Lyndon. They've outscored Doniphan West, Linn, and Blue Valley-Randolph in their last three games 160-14.

Axtell travels to Frankfort this Friday night for a monster game that should decide the district title. That game will be broadcast live on KMZA 92.1 FM

Both Jefferson County North and Centralia dropped out of the 1A ranks for the first time this season after taking their first losses of the season this past week. The Chargers lost a key district game to defending champs St. Marys while the Panthers dropped a non-district game against Garden Plain.

No change in Class 2A as Nemaha Central and Sabetha remain the top two teams in the classification. The Thunder won at Minneapolis 24-0 for their fifth consecutive shutout and 19th straight win overall. The Thunder remain the best defensive team across all classifications as they've surrendered just six total points through six games.

The Bluejays scored 60 points for the first time since October of last season in a 60-3 Big 7 win last time out against Riverside. The Bluejays rushed for nearly 330 yards and led by 40 at halftime. The Thunder and Bluejays are on a crash course for an undefeated week eight regular season finale which will be one of the biggest games in the state that will decide the Big 7 and district titles.
