Plenty of area cross country teams and individuals competed on Saturday at the Rim Rock Classic in Lawrence.

It's one of the biggest cross country meets in the state every season.

The Hiawatha boys posted the best team finish as they finished sixth place out of 44 teams in the event. The Redhawks were led by Jordan Hodge who finished in 16th place. Felix McCartney finished 25th while Riley Gibbs finished 85th and Aden Geisendorf finished 87th.

There were a total of 327 runners competing in this event.

The best individual finish was from Holton's Eva Cortes as she finished in 7th place out of 258 runners competing. The finish helped the Wildcats finish in 22nd place as a team out of more than 30 total teams in that division.

The Sabetha boys got a couple of quality outings from Charlie Lukert who finished in 19th place while Kalvin Evans finished in 33rd place with more than 300 runners in that division.

Nemaha Central's Bob Langill, who's had a very good season, was representing the Thunder and posted a top-30 finish.
