The Frankfort Wildcats had no problem getting back to their winning ways on Friday night with a 56-6 halftime mercy rule win at Doniphan West.

On the Wildcats’ second play from scrimmage, sophomore quarterback Wes Anderson took off for a 46-yard rushing touchdown, his second of the season.

After getting a three-and-out, Jett Keller was able to tackle Doniphan West quarterback and punter Cooper Eberly in the endzone after a high snap for a safety to go up 10-0.

On the ensuing kickoff, junior Lane Loiseau took it 65 yards to the house to go up 18-0 with just 8:21 left in the first quarter.

After getting another stop, senior running back Brock Armstrong got his first touchdown of the day from 21 yards out to go up 24-0.

In a bizarre set of circumstances, Frankfort ended up getting another safety in the same quarter with Trent Hardin making the tackle in the endzone after the Wildcats turned the ball over on downs at the two-yard line.

Armstrong got another rushing touchdown with this one coming on an end-around play from the two-yard line to go up 34-0.

Loiseau got an interception with 6:30 left in the second quarter which led to Anderson’s first passing touchdown. He connected with Hardin for a 13-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 42-0.

Loiseau got a ten-yard rushing touchdown after making plays on defense and special teams to give Frankfort a 49-0 lead.

On their next possession, Kelby Windmeyer forced a fumble for Doniphan West and the Mustangs got their lone score of the day with Eberly making a nice 30-yard run making multiple defenders miss.

On the next play from scrimmage, though, Frankfort would get their final score of the game with Anderson finding Carter Olson over the middle for a 40-yard touchdown. That score was Olson’s tenth touchdown reception of the season.

Freshman defensive back Henry Ketter got an interception to seal the win for Frankfort to get them 3-1 on the regular season and 1-0 in district play.

Anderson was 6-for-9 with 134 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two carries for 41 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Armstrong had seven carries for 55 yards and two touchdowns with a 60-yard reception. Loiseau had four carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Hardin had two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.

Frankfort’s offense finished with 278 yards averaging 10.3 yards per carry. They also averaged 22.3 yards per reception.

Their defense gave up just 111 yards of total offense including just 3.3 yards per pass attempt and 4.8 yards per carry.
