The Kansas City Royals went 3-3 in their six-game road trip over the past week with a series win at San Francisco last weekend and a mid-week series loss to the Texas Rangers.

The offense was much improved overall, and they are hoping that they are close to getting settled into a groove.

Last Friday, they got a 3-1 win against the Giants with Brad Keller on the hill. He had his best stuff going and was virtually unhittable.

Catcher Salvador Perez smashed a solo homer in the top of the eighth to deflate the spirits of the Giants and Barlow got his first save of the year.

Their 6-5 victory on Saturday was arguably the most fun game of the season with KC scoring five unanswered runs in the final three innings to come from behind and steal the victory.

Salvy was once again the hero, hitting a three-run bomb in the eighth inning to tie the game The game-winning run came on a wild pitch in the ninth inning.

Their offense reverted to first week of the season-form on Sunday in the 3-1 loss with just five total hits. Bubic pitched well in his start and has kept his ERA below 2.00 in his two starts so far.

Pasquantino was hot over the weekend with two hits on Sunday in addition to his first home run of the season on Friday.

The Royals had a quick turnaround from San Fran on Sunday afternoon to Arlington on Monday evening to play the Texas Rangers and the team must have dealt with some jetlag.

It was ugly from start to finish losing the game 11-2. Greinke had his worst performance of the young season, but he still only gave up three earned runs.

However, reliever Dylan Coleman would come in the game and allow six more to put the game out of reach.

The high that the team experienced on Saturday was flipped to the inverse after Tuesday’s 8-5 loss in ten innings.

Things looked like they were going the Royals’ way with RBI singles by Salvy and Melendez in the eighth and ninth innings to send the game into extras.

They then took the lead in the top of the tenth inning with Michael Massey hitting a sacrifice fly with Jackie Bradley Jr. scoring. However, Adolis Garcia would tie the game back up with an RBI single and then Jonah Heim hitting a walk-off three-run home run.

Kansas City was able to get back on the right track and unloaded a bunch of runs on Wednesday in their 10-1 victory to avoid the sweep. Five different Royals had multiple hits including Bobby Witt Jr., who had three hits, including an RBI triple. Melendez had three RBI on a pair of hits as well.

Keller had another very good outing and has arguably been their best starter so far this season.

This weekend, they welcome the reigning World Series champion Atlanta Braves, who are off to another good start this season with a 9-4 record.

Brady Singer will start on Friday evening and will try to redeem himself after a rough start last Saturday. He boasts a 4.91 ERA and 1-0 record so far in two starts and 11 innings pitched.

The Royals’ offense will face Charlie Morton, who had an underwhelming 2022 season and is not off to a great start this season either. He currently has given up five earned runs in 10.1 innings for an ERA of 4.35 and a 1-1 record.

On Saturday, Bubic (0-1, 1.64 ERA) will make his third start of the season and hopes to continue his white-hot start. The Braves will give Bryce Elder (1-0, 0.00 ERA) the nod.

The series will conclude on Sunday with Greinke getting start number four. He is hoping for help from the offense for the first time this season as he is 0-3 despite a steady ERA of 3.31. Kyle Wright (0-0, 12.00 ERA) will start for Atlanta.
