Troy picked up the sweep against Wetmore on senior night on Tuesday with the girls’ team winning 58-15 and the boys’ team winning 64-51.

In the girls’ game, Troy made a statement early finishing around the rim and making second chance points. They ended up leading after the first quarter 17-2. The second quarter wasn’t much kinder to the Cardinals as the Trojans’ lead grew to 25 at halftime by a score of 28-3.

Troy Freshman Harper Whetstine came off the bench and made an immediate impact scoring six quick points.

Wetmore’s offense still wasn’t able to keep up with Troy’s offense out of the break. Senior Keely Jasper made the first three-point basket of the game and scored five points in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Trojans kept handling their business and protected their home court picking up the blowout victory.

Jasper and Whetstine both finished with ten points on the night. With it being senior night, the “Player to Bank On” presented by Farmers State Bank goes to Jasper. Troy finished with 11 different scorers.

Wetmore sophomore Kaylee Foote led the Cardinals in scoring with six points.

The boys’ game would be decisive as well in favor of the Trojans.

Troy’s defense didn’t allow many open looks as they gave up just eight points in the first quarter while scoring 17. The lead would continue to grow in the second quarter with senior forward Preston Christenson scoring seven in the quarter.

Troy junior center Brogan Morris off the bench was dominant in the paint and on the glass as he led the team in scoring after three quarters with 11 points. He helped them extend their lead to 27 late in the quarter.

Wetmore wouldn’t go away without a fight in the fourth quarter, though, as junior point guard Brayden McQueen and senior shooting guard Kylar Wommack both knocked down a pair of threes to make the final score a lot closer than how the game actually unfolded.

Morris ended up with a team-high 15 points off the bench, despite fouling out with 4:19 to go. He is our “Player to Bank On” brought to you by Farmers State Bank. Senior guard Boden Benitz added 12 points and Christenson finished with 11.

Wetmore senior forward Jacob Carls led the Cardinals in scoring with 13 points with Wommack and McQueen scoring 12 apiece.
