Highland Basketball Sweeps Neosho County on the Road

The Scotties of Highland hit the road last night after a little break and came away with a sweep of Neosho County on the road.

First up were the ladies on the night the Scotties were outrebounded in the game 43-27 and down at the half to Neosho 38-30 but that didn't stop Highland from making a comeback to pull of the 65-59 road win. Lady Scotties used hot shooting in the game with four players in double figures, 35-21 second half and a 53% night from the floor to help them to the win, while also using their defense, too. Highland's defense forced 22 Neosho turnovers, which lead to 20 points for the Scotties.

On the night High was led by Royce Shields who tallied 18 points, while Janelle Saling, Tamiya Green and Carina Jackson all added double figures, too. Saling posted 13 points with Green and Jackson each registering 12 and 10 points, apiece.

With the win the #11 Highland Lady Scotties improved to 18-3 on the season and 7-3 in conference play.

After the ladies got the victory the men, hit the hardwood and got out to a 22 point lead in the ball game against Neosho County but they battled back and Highland held on for the seven point win, 70-63.

Scotties used great shooting from the floor, 43% and from the charity strip they were 25/32, while having three players finish with double figures on the night. Martell Collins led the Scotties with 18 points, while Jaleni Neely and James Walker added 15 and 10 points, respectively.

While the offense was cooking along for Highland they struggled on the boards, being outrebounded 51-32 by Neosho. Highland did only have 10 turnovers in all, having plenty great possessions all throughout the contest.

Highland with the win improved to 13-8 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.

Next up for the Scotties they will host Allen County Community College on Saturday with the women playing at 1:00pm and the men at 3:00pm.
