The Valley Falls baseball team once again posted a memorable season in 2022 with a 20-4 record, a Northeast Kansas League Title, and a 3rd Place finish at the 2A State Tournament in Great Bend.
Valley Falls was a perfect 10-0 in NEKL play with their only losses coming against Osage City twice and Mission Valley twice. One of the Mission Valley losses was in the State Tournament Semi-Finals.
The 2022 season follows the 2021 season where they went 21-3 and finished runner-up at the State Tournament. They’ve made the State Tournament three times in the last six seasons.
The Dragons were well represented on the All-State teams released by the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches. Avery Gatzemeyer was named Co-Pitcher of the Year while also being named First Team All-State. Outfielder Brennen Miller was also named to the First Team.
Second Team All-State selections included pitcher Trenton Kraxner and third baseman Dylan Cervantez. Outfielder Carson Clark was named Honorable Mention.
