Flinthills def. Doniphan West 17-25, 25-22, 25-22

After a back-and-forth start, Doniphan West rattled off nine straight points to go up 14-5. They were able to keep the #1 team in the state at bay for the remainder of the set as Flinthills committed a lot of errors. In the second set, Flinthills got off to a good start, but D-West got five straight points when trailing 12-9 to take a 14-12 lead. From that point, it was back-and-forth the rest of the way, but Flinthills got hot at the end of the set to extend the match to a third set. Doniphan West started the third set with an early lead, but Flinthills slowly crept back in it to create an exciting finish. Flinthills was able to get a lead at the very end and held it to send D-West to the consolation game.

Doniphan West def. Pretty Prairie 25-17, 25-14

Doniphan West led most of the first set with Pretty Prairie staying within arms’ reach. That was all they would be able to do, though, as the Mustangs took care of business late in the set to win 25-17. The early portion of the second set was very even with both teams trading blows. In the middle of the set, D-West was able to gain some separation. Late in the set, the Mustangs were able to pull away and get a comfortable 25-14 victory to secure third place at state.
