Hiawatha defeats Jefferson West 25-15, 25-14

Hiawatha got things started on the right foot picking up the first ten points in the first set, but Jefferson West would fight back to get within four. However, the Red Hawks would generate a late rally by scoring seven of the last nine points to win the opening set.

Hiawatha would start out hot in the second set, but they wouldn’t allow the Tigers to get into any sort of rhythm. They made quick work with Jeff West to advance to the semifinals.

Royal Valley defeats Sabetha 23-25, 25-15, 25-21

Royal Valley led the first set 22-16, but Sabetha put together a monster comeback to win the set. The Panthers would then respond with a dominant second set to keep their season alive.

In the third set the Bluejays got off to a quick start leading for the entire first half of the set. However, it was a late rally this time by Royal Valley to rattle off multiple critical points to win the match in an exciting three-set quarterfinal match.

Royal Valley defeats Hiawatha 25-16, 25-20

Hiawatha came out a little rusty as they had some time off in between matches. Royal Valley didn’t look tired in the slightest, despite the physically and emotionally taxing win against Sabetha right before. It was total domination from start to finish for the Panthers in the first set. The Red Hawks did get off to a good start in the second set, but another late comeback for Royal Valley lifted them to get to the championship match.

Nemaha Central defeats Royal Valley 25-17, 25-13

Nemaha Central got out to a quick start to begin the first set, but Royal Valley rallied to take a 9-8 lead. That was when the momentum shifted, and the rowdy Thunder crowd got into the game helping their team to a first set win. The Thunder didn’t allow the Panthers to get anything going in the second set as Nemaha Central cruised to an easy win as they will go to the state tournament in Hutchinson next weekend.
