KSHSAA State Football Brackets Released

The 2022 high school football regular season closed out on Friday night. Now, the playoffs are set to begin next week with everything on the line. 

BRACKETS

6-Man - Wetmore finished the regular season 6-2 and finished runner-up in their district. The Cardinals will have a bye and play the winner of Burrton and Southern Coffey County in the Regional round. 

8M-I - Clifton Clyde finished the regular season 7-1 and won the district title. The Eagles will host Quinter in the first round. Washington County snuck into the field as they finished fourth in their district. The Tigers will have a tough draw in the first round as they'll travel to 7-1 Hill City. 

8M-II - Axtell's run for back-to-back State Titles will begin at home against Pike Valley. The Eagles have won 21 games in a row and have been the top ranked team all season. Hanover finished second in the district behind Axtell and will host Lakeside-Downs in the first round. Frankfort will have to go on the road to face St. Johns-Tipton while Linn travels to Osborne. 

1A - Centralia finished the regular season as the lone undefeated team in 1A with their run to a title starting at home in the first round against McLouth. Troy finished second in the district behind the Panthers and will host Mission Valley. Jefferson County North will get a home game in the first round as they'll host Riverside. Jackson Heights has a tough draw in round one as they'll travel to face St. Marys. Valley Heights finished fourth in their district and will travel to Sedgwick to play their opening round game on Thursday. 

2A - Nemaha Central will be looking for their first state title since 2019. The Thunder are 8-0 with their run for the Championship starting at home against Pleasant Ridge. Sabetha finished runner-up in the district behind the Thunder and they'll host ACCHS in the first round. 

3A - The Holton Wildcats will look to make a run for a State Title after winning the district title and finishing the regular season at 7-1. They'll host Santa Fe Trail in the first round. Perry Lecompton and Marysville both finished third in their respective districts. The Kaws will play at Bishop Ward while the Bulldogs will travel to Hesston. Royal Valley was able to get into the playoffs for the first time since the mid 2000's. The Panthers will travel to face undefeated Wellsville. 

4A - The run for Atchison will begin at home against 2-6 Fort Scott. The Phoenix were one of three teams in 4A to finish undefeated along with Chanute and Wamego.
