Holton 53, Jeff West 7

Despite a handful of starters missing the game, Holton maintained momentum from their big win against Topeka Hayden last week by dominating Jeff West 53-7 to conclude the regular season with their seventh straight win.  The Wildcats scored every time they touched the football with six touchdown plays of greater than 30 yards in building a 28-0 lead after one quarter and 45-0 advantage at halftime that forced a running clock throughout the second half.

Having completed just 4 of 15 passes all season, the Wildcats wanted to work on their passing game and Matt Lierz was sharp completing 4 of 6 passes for 167 yards and three of those receptions went for touchdowns. LIerz found Charlie Gilliland on a 32-yard TD to start the scoring then hit Garyson Booth for a 44-yard touchdown on the second drive before a 37-yard TD strike to Jace Boswell to go up 42-0 late in the first half.

Lierz, who was 6-6 kicking PATs, then kicked a 35-yard field goal to put Holton ahead 45-0 at the break after he found Sam Miller for a 54-yard pass late in the second period. Lierz and Boswell each added rushing touchdowns of  more than 35 yards and Kyler Jackson scored the lone touchdown for the Cats on their only possession in the second half.

Jakari Washington scored his first touchdown of the season on a 44-yard run and led Holton with 7 carries for 76 yards. Lierz, Boswell and Logan Altenburg all had more than 40 yards rushing as Holton only needed 21 plays to score 7 times in the first half and improve to 7-1 on the season.  Holton will begin their 25th straight post-season run hosting Santa Fe Trail next week.

Jeff West avoided a second straight shutout with a 17-yard TD pass from Brody Thelan (freshman) to Drew Beilman (sophomore) as time expired. Thelan was 22-30 passing for 157 total yards. Beilman had 6 catches for 41 yards and Brodie Boyer led the Tigers with 6 receptions for 74 yards, Jeff West dropped to 0-8 and will finish their season versus Osawatomie next week.
