The Week 1 Kansas Volleyball Association Rankings were released yesterday, and they include a good number of teams from the area.

Nemaha Central comes in at number one in Class 3A after their 8-0 start. They were previously ranked second but have leap-frogged Heritage Christian for the top spot.

Royal Valley is also off to a very respectable start to 2022 going 12-1 in their first 13 games. They find themselves ranked sixth after being unranked in the preseason poll.

In 2A, Valley Heights falls one spot and are ranked eighth. The Mustangs are 6-2 on the young season. Jefferson County North has not competed in any tournaments yet, so their record currently sits at 2-0.

That’s still good enough for them to be number eight in the state, but they have fallen a few spots from last week’s rankings.

Doniphan West goes from unranked to the fifth-ranked team in Class 1A Division 1 after starting the season 5-0. A little further down the list, Centralia comes in ninth. The Panthers fall from the number four spot after starting the season 4-1.

In Division 2, Hanover comes in as the number one team in the state at 2-0. TVL foe Linn checks in at number nine after going 1-1 in their first two games.
