Hiawatha def. Sabetha 25-21, 20-25, 25-14

In the Hiawatha Red Hawks’ third game of the 2022 season, it took them a bit to get warmed up against the Sabetha Blue Jays. Sabetha did a great job of not letting Hiawatha get any major runs and were able to hang around for most of the match, but the final set Hiawatha looked like they had reached midseason form and went on to dominate the final set. The Red Hawks picked up a crucial first win of the evening in league play to improve to 2-1.

Sabetha def. Jefferson West 21-25, 25-13, 25-15

Sabetha had to quickly shake off a tough loss and follow up against the Tigers of Jefferson West who came out of the gate playing very well. They fought tough and won the first set which was back and forth towards the end. They started the second set leading 7-1, but then the Blue Jays kicked it into hyperdrive and played a whole different level of volleyball. They maintained that high level for the rest of the match and won it in the third handily.

In the final match, the student section was rowdy cheering on for their Red Hawks to get out of the Roundhouse with two wins and they did just that. This time, they didn’t mess around and let their opponent hang in for any length of time. Hiawatha took care of business dominating the net with great passing and a minimum number of mistakes.
