The Nemaha Central volleyball team got off to a great start in 2022 as they took home the Championship at the Marysville Tournament on Saturday.
The Thunder entered the season ranked 2nd in the KVA preseason rankings in Class 3A behind only Heritage Christian.
Nemaha Central went a perfect 6-0 at Marysville and beat Royal Valley in the Championship match 25-22, 21-25, and 25-19.
The Panthers were solid in getting all the way to the Championship as they got straight set victories over Washington County, Valley Heights, Concordia, and Marysville.
Valley Heights finished in third place as they got wins over Shawnee Mission West, Riley County, and Chapman. The Mustangs were preseason ranked #8 in Class 2A by the KVA.
Marysville and Washington County both finished the day with 1-3 records while Sabetha finished fourth as they picked up wins over Washington County, Marysville, and Concordia.
