Valley Falls Heading Back to 2-1A State Tournament with Victory over Maur Hill in Regional Title Game
By Brandon Tadtman

The Valley Falls baseball team will have a chance to avenge their Title Game loss at the State Tournament a year ago as they won the Regional Title on Wednesday night over Maur Hill-Mount Academy.

Valley Falls got their with a Semi-Final win over Oskaloosa 14-7 while the Ravens posted an impressive 2-0 win over two-seed KC Christian. Parrish Beagle allowed just two hits in the Semi-Final win for MH-MA.

The Ravens jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning against Valley Falls. The Dragons would tally one in the second but would leave the bases loaded with Maur Hill's lead cut to 2-1.

Valley Falls would take the lead at 3-2 in the fourth inning after a couple of wild pitches allowed the Dragons to tally a couple of runs. The Dragons weren't done in the inning as they would add four more and would lead 7-2 after the fourth.

The Ravens added one in the fifth to make it 7-3 but stranded two runners in the inning. The Dragons would add one more insurance run late and would win the game 8-3 to advance back to the 2-1A State Tournament next week in Great Bend.

The Dragons last season made it all the way to the State Championship game but fell short with an 11-1 loss to Sedgwick.

The NEKL Champs will look to avenge that loss last season as they will take an 18-3 record to Great Bend which looks to have them in line for the 3-seed in the tournament.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy has their season come to an end with a record of 14-8.
